About Lawfare

Understanding the intersection of law, politics, and hybrid warfare in the modern world. Uncover the truth behind judicial manipulation.

Our Mission

Lawfare is dedicated to exposing the systematic use of deceit in politics, a phenomenon that has evolved from historical manipulations—like those seen in Greek mythology and the Trojan War—to modern authoritarian regimes. Inspired by thinkers like Plato, who admired the weaving of truth into new perspectives, and Lucian, who used falsehoods to sharpen critical thinking, we aim to guide our audience toward deeper truths.

As Piero Calamandrei described in his analysis of fascist Italy, political deceit is a "regime of authoritarian indiscipline" that distorts legality and democracy. At Lawfare, we analyze these tactics—seen in Fidel Castro's delusional promises in 1989, the São Paulo Forum's reframing of socialism, and the Puebla Group's modern strategies—to help leaders and citizens defend democracy and the rule of law.

Our History

Lawfare was founded in response to the growing crisis of judicial manipulation and hybrid warfare in the post-1989 world. The collapse of the Berlin Wall marked a turning point, revealing the failures of real socialism and the rise of new forms of political deceit. From Castro's speeches in Cuba to the São Paulo Forum's strategies in Latin America, we recognized the need to study and counter these tactics.

Today, we continue to analyze the evolution of these strategies, from the Puebla Group's "substantive democracy" to the global narratives pushed by China and Russia. Our work is trusted by leading global institutions committed to defending the rule of law.
